I’ll write home every day
Oct 29th, 2007 by Amy
I’ve been a major blog slacker. To make up for my slacking and to challenge myself, I have joined NaBloPoMo (aka National Blog Post Month), which means that I will be attempting to post once each day for the entire month of November. You may have heard of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), and NaBloPoMo was inspired by it, but as an alternative for those of us who aren’t motivated to write a novel.
Before hearing about NaBloPoMo, I heard about NaNoSweMo (National Sweater Knitting Month - don’t ask me how they came up with that acronym!), which is also taking place in November. I liked the idea, but my current WIP list and plans for Christmas gift knitting don’t really lend themselves to being put on hold for a month in favor of a new project. NaBloPoMo seems like a good alternative, since it will motivate me to finish WIPs and start new projects, and that will give me more stuff to post about.
Since I feel the need to post something project related, I’ll give you a peek at my first Christmas knitting project - mittens for my sister.
This was my first attempt at fair isle knitting, and the work in the photo was later frogged due to gauge issues and restarted with smaller needles. But I’m pretty proud of my attempt at trying a new knitting skill.
More details about the project and its progress will be revealed in November!

hey! i was just thinking earlier today that it had been quite a while since i’d heard anything from you!
i thought the sweater one was nakniswemo, but i haven’t looked into it that much. the only sweater i was thinking of making would have been for myself and i feel like i shouldn’t do that this close to Christmas.
the mittens look preeeeeetty! i need to learn some new skillz….
Hi! I round you on NaBloPoMo’s randomizer. Love your blog banner! Who drew the kitty? Anyway, very nice!
those mittens are going to be gorgeous! I love the colours you’ve chosen…..
I love the mittens!! I’m very excited to get my Christmas present.
I’ve been admiring knitting progress icons on blogs for a few years now. Can you tell me how you did it please and thank you!
I just love the colors of yarn you have chosen. That a wonderful gift for your sister!
